JR Construction Solutions is seeking an estimator for our Prairieville office. This position will require a multifaceted self-starter to maintain multiple roles.

Purchasing & Estimating 

• Ability to understand construction drawings, specifications, and other construction documents.
• Ability to perform accurate take-offs and prepare competitive bid proposals
• Proficient in MS office, Outlook, and Adobe.
• Ability to make site visits to perform field measurements and collect necessary bid information.
• Ability to prepare and review project contracts.

Other duties include:

• Setting up jobs, budgets, and materials list in company’s ERP software.
• Entering estimate requests into company CMR software.
• Submitting and tracking VPO requests.

The position may require other duties such as ordering materials for jobs, scheduling pump trucks, scheduling concrete, and coordinating the sub vendors schedules with the project manager.

• Must be organized and very detail-oriented.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to negotiate projects.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

Qualifications:

Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must have knowledge of vertical and horizontal construction. Three years prior experience in construction management preferred. Please provide professional references.

This is a W2 position which includes performance bonus, truck allowance, phone allowance, and compensation for gas. Must own truck in good working condition.

Daily Scope of Work

• Observes construction activity at various sites.
• Reviews the project schedule and documents progress.
• Oversees all onsite construction activity and coordinates with subcontractors.
• Maintains communication logs pertaining to job status, submittals, and change orders.
• Works with home office to create weekly schedules for subcontractors.
• Communicates materials needed through purchase orders.
• Reduces waste materials as a priority.
• Has knowledge of building products, construction practices, and quality standards.
